ROCKvoices Interviews

Between February 2023 and May 2024, I helped coordinate, conducted, filmed and transcribed several interviews for ROCKvoices, an oral history project developed by the Slippery Rock University archives. I chose to showcase these three interviews for their broad range of content, diverse perspectives and simple human interest.

Dr. LaCom arrived at Slippery Rock University from Oregon in 1992 as an English professor. During their 30-year tenure, they transformed the Gender Studies program, served on three diversity-related President's Commissions and strove to address social justice and intersectionality on campus.

Dr. Payne was hired into the Department of Dance in 1996. Since then, she has further developed the dance program, spent nine years as chair of the department and served as director of the university's Frederick Douglass Institute. She was appointed Associate Provost of Academic Administration by former president Bill Behre in 2022.

Dr. Levy was hired into the university's history department in 1985. The following year, he led the restructuring of the SRU Honors Program, which flourished under his leadership. He is the author of several books chronicling the lives of major-league baseball players, concentration camp survivors and celebrated artists.
